At school we celebrate a different letter every week, this way working ourselves through the alphabet. As a teacher I want to meet the needs of as many different learning styles as I can. Therefore we not only learn how to write the letter, but we learn the name and the sound of the letter. We tell stories interwoven with words that begin with the letter of our week. Every time the children hear the sound of that letter, they have to place their hand on their head or touch their nose.
But we also explore the letter through concrete materials.
Last week we celebrated the letter Ff: fire, fox, fabulous, fireman, five, four.... so much fun!!!
Since felt and feather start with the letter F, we created "felt and feather fall fairies".
The children LOVED making them. They immediately were implemented in their play and work.
Don't they look just FABULOUS!!!!
