At school we made these big round happy hearts out of salt dough. This of course was a multi layer projects, but the children tend to love them.
We made the dough all together and each student got to shape their own heart and used the end of a brush to poke a small hole in the top. In the oven they went and after about 2 hours of baking they were hard.
The next morning we went on painting them with tempera paint, rich and red. *of course the letter of our week happens to be Rr*
Before the paint was dry we sprinkled glitter over them. In the next session I sprayed them with clear spray. When everything was dry the children then got to attach the ribbon on it.
For now they are decorating the classroom, but on Friday they will go home to their families, where they belong!
I look forward to our celebration on Friday!
