spring cleaning step by step

My little desk. I finished painting the board. The green really brightens the room and makes spring feel even closer. This was one project I wanted to finish before painting the kitchen... one less to go!

I usually can't wait to begin the clearing and cleaning that seems to come with the first warmer days that make you think of spring.

Although I love the thought of major cleaning and the feeling afterwards however, at the same time it is overwhelmed to actually DO it. And we only have a two bedroom apartment!!!! This year I decided to tackle one room at a time. First weekend I cleaned the living room. I am mean CLEANED it, like washing the windows, walls, and ceilings, dusting everything, taking the curtains down washing and hanging them in the sun to dry, and scrubbing every light switch and baseboard.

This weekend I emptied the children's room and really managed a deep cleaning there. Three big garbage bags full of stuff went to Goodwill. I could only wonder "how did all this fit into their little room?"

Doing one room at a time really breaks it down nicely to enjoy not just the end result but the process itself.

Next week it is going to be our bedroom. Lots of clothes to go through. Mateo still has his clothes in our room. I am ready to pull out his next box of hand-me-downs.
