birthday party #3

(the sign Sophia drew to hang on our front door)

Fresh flowers, nice glasses, a little glitter, fresh fruit and a home sewn garland is all that was need for Sophia to feel like a birthday party host. There doesn't need to be a big verbal expression, just to see her glowing eyes and little smile she had when looking around the room, told me that the magic was happening.

Oh we had so much fun. It was a small intimate party of four friends, all lovers of the American Girl dolls. They became our theme. Everyone brought their own American Girl doll, so we had two Kits (Mateo calls them Kik, all dolls for that matter), Ruthie and Samantha.

Everyone was busy getting their dolls party ready. When EVERYONE was in party style we sat down and enjoyed a yummy treat of vanilla ice cream, fresh strawberries and whippy de whipped whipping cream.

Even the dolls had their seat, you see.

Mateo was happy sitting with the dolls. ;)
Afterwards we made tutu's (found here).

The room looked pink and cheerful. The girls were busy making them and could have gone on for longer, but they did use up all the twelve yards of tull that was there. They tried on their new tresses and loved them.

Soon the music was on and a great dance began. Little swirls and big leaps were practiced. Mateo got his own hand made tutu and happily danced among the big girls.

They danced...

and twirled....

and leaped...

and stretched...
and danced some more.
Together they enjoyed a supper of mashed potatoes (see she is a little german ;)) carrots and peas and tofu dogs (which we don't usually buy, but she loves).

The girls enjoyed each other, giggled and laughed, shared stories and were silly. Just like I remember from my parties. And what counts the most is that Sophia felt really happy at the end and smiled proudly when she went to bed.

Happiness lies in the simple things, and it is for us to see them! She did today.

Happy Birthday again, seven- year- old- wonderful- strong- big- sister- first- grade- Maedchen. I love you!
