After an adventurers day to the Junior Museum in Palo Alto, the play ground, Cafe Sophia and the Play Store in Palo Alto, Mateo fell asleep for a minute in the car, and decided that was enough for a nap. When seven o'clock came around however, he was out and deep asleep. I watched him for awhile, so peaceful and beautiful, just sweetness this little boy.
Coming downstairs was Sophia sitting on the floor with her portfolio of art work, paintings, photographs, and qualities from her years at school. I joined her on the rug and together we looked through everything.
Together we remembered different moments and pieces of work. Sometimes she would say, I don't remember this. Then I would remind her. Other time she had to remind me. We laughed and enjoyed the memories together. She giggled seeing some of her pre-K drawings of people aka head, arms and legs.
She marveled at the fact that she already received four qualities and participated in four all school plays.
Looking at her work and pictures made me nostalgic for a moment, thinking of the little girl, with her round cheeks, and round-head-and-stick-legs people drawings.
Then I looked up and saw my big girl. Watching her today on the playground with her little brother, teaching him how to go down the slide, I suddenly thought, there is nothing to be nostalgic about. She is only becoming more beautiful and capable to do anything she sets herself out to do.
Thank you Mateo for going to sleep early. Thank you Sophia for teaching me to treasure you as who you are. Thank you for this inspiring evening with my amazing daughter, Sophia!
