I am happy to share some of my DIY's I worked on over the summer. First up the one I was most excited about. My doily lamp!
Theodore and I have been looking for the right dining area lamp for a long time. We browsed many stores, in the town and online. Either we didn't like what the other one liked or the lamp we both liked was simply too expensive. This summer while searching the web, I noticed how much I like doilies. However, I never used them much in my home decorating because I didn't know how to do it without making me feel too old. Plus Theodore didn't like it very much. When I thought of the idea to make a doily lamp I found so many stunning lamps. Convinced Theodore wouldn't like it I send it to him anyway, just to show what I was enjoying... Well, I was wrong. Theodore wrote back "looks great".
So, my sister and I set to work, gathering all the materials and layered wallpaper glue on top of doilies on top of a big white balloon. The trying time was a few days, and then we needed to add more glue, because the doilies kept caving in. And I ended up repeating the process a couple more times after my sister left.
However, now it is hanging on our ceiling, our landlord installed it, and the ugly track light is finally gone!!!
I love the way the lamp looks at night. We noticed right away how warm and cozy the lamp was making our home.
It was a fun project to be working on with my creative sister, Lena! ;)
