back to school tomorrow

time for our morning activity
Yes, tomorrow is the day we are returning to our more structured routine, it is back to work and school.

There can be something very comforting about a routine or schedule. I try to establish one at home especially for the children (although of course it is nice not to have a strict routine when we are on vacation). Time is just an arbetrary thing, and children don't really quite know what to do with it. What does it mean 2 minutes, 1 hour???
At school I often feel like, if I went through the whole day in about 2 hours, the children would totally oblige and be ready to go home at 11 a.m. and wouldn't think anything of it.
time for singing class

For some children to know what comes next, to have some predictability is very important. It helps them make sense of their world. A routine can help them live in the now, without worrying about the future.
yes we are ready for some science

Having said this, I made a little schedule for the children to follow along. I wrote all the varies activities on card stock and glued pictures of symbols for the varies activities. This way children who are not reading yet have a way to identify what activity it is. Nothing much, but I think it will be very helpful to some children, especially if they are involved turning the cards over, once we are done with one activity.
lets shake those marakas and we will have rhythm
