Not too long ago I bought the children new place mats. Mateo the one with lots of animals and their sounds on it and Sophia one with a map of the United States. All the States are shown on the map. She enjoyed looking and discovering the map so much that at times it was challenging for her to eat dinner at the same time.
But her interest in the map made me want to get her a globe and a large world map like this one to hang in the stair way.
While the large map has to wait for now, I did find this wonderful old globe at a garage sale, for $3 no less!
Sophia was so excited and now she keeps looking at it and finding new routes to Germany and other parts of the world. She loves looking Tibet. She knows it as the Dalai Lama's birth place from our play.
It is fun to watch her discover the world! World here she comes.....
