basket full of unpredictable little marbles, each of them so pretty though
A view days ago I was lying in my dentists chair getting my teeth cleaned. While I was lying there I kept watching the hygienist and wondered what her life might be like. It was then that it occurred to me that when new patients are stepping into the office and lay down in her chair, she cleans their teeth. She cleans their teeth! Every single one (perhaps there are a view exceptions) comes to her to have their teeth cleaned. Talk about predictability.
In my job the only predictability I get is that children will come through the door in the morning. What happens after that.... well that is pretty much uncertain. Lesson plans are made and I have an idea what I would like to do with the children, but if actually happens and how it turns out and which direction it takes is unknown. Then there are the parents, I hardly ever know which question they might possibly ask me.
Those uncertainties are of course are partially what makes my job so exciting, keeping me going, and on my toes so to speak. I love my job, but sometimes I just do hope for a little predictability!
