theater magic

our set
The time of year for Theater Magic at our school has come. I won't really be able to find the right words to describe the kind of theater productions we put on with the children, but I will try to tell you a little bit.
We always tell the story of the life of someone who brought peace, justice, and care to the world when little of either of them seemed possible. Some great ones we have learned about: Buddha, Gandhi, Yogananda, Martin Luther King Jr., Hafiz, Jesus, Mirabai, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, and many others.

I have only been part the school for the last four years, but every year the performances move me and feel grateful that not only I but the children from our school can be part of something this powerful. To experience the power, strength, grieve, and goodness that comes from such people through acting is profound.
This year we are sharing the story of Hiawatha a leader among the First Americans. It is a beautiful story, very moving, very real.
Before the this is all over (we have two more performances tonight and tomorrow night) I will post some lines from our script and some poems the children are performing in between. Many wise words are in the script, which encourage you to ponder, reflect upon, and discuss them.
sophia, who couldn't love the theater more!
